Hoi An was one of my favourite places I visited whilst traveling Vietnam, and a large reason for this was the great place we stayed in. After reading only positive reviews on Trip Advisor, and getting a recommendation from a friend, we booked five nights at Ly Phuc Homestay. A homestay is similar to sleeping in a B&B in the UK but with more interaction with the host family. Staying with Ly, the homestay owner, and her family was such a wonderful experience as it enabled us to learn so much about Vietnamese culture.
For around £8 a night we had a clean room as well as breakfast included. I highly recommend Ly's mother's banana pancakes along with a Vietnamese iced coffee. The kitchen is outside in their front garden and it's a wonderful place to start the day.
The entire family made us feel completely at home, and Ly was always happy to give us advice on the local area. She cooked dinner for my friend and I twice, introduced us to other guests, and her husband tailor made us dresses. In addition, she showed us a place called Hoi An Eco Discovery where we zip-wired across a lake into a boat!
Her house is beautiful and always clean. There's AC in all of the rooms, free WiFi, and our room had such a comfy bed. There are also bikes available to rent which we used to cycle into town each day. The homestay is located about 2km outside the Old Town in Hoi An so it's much more pleasant to cycle than to walk in the heat.
All in all, Hoi An is such a relaxing old town full of charm, and I absolutely loved staying at Ly Phuc Homestay. We both really wished we could have stayed for longer!
If anyone is considering visiting the area I highly recommend staying with Ly!
