I'll be honest, prior to our trip to NYC, the MET wasn't on the list of things I wanted to do during our visit. I'm not particularly interested in art and so I didn't think it was the best way for me to spend a few hours of my life.
However I then read about the rooftop garden on the top floor of the museum, and being the sucker that I am for great views, thought it should make it's way onto the list.
Plus, as my sister & I had already bought the NYC CityPASS, the admission was free.
After wandering around the Modern & Contemporary Art exhibitions we made our way up to the fifth floor of the museum. Once again it was a beautiful day, but the rooftop garden was practically empty.
It was so quiet and peaceful it felt like a real hidden gem. You get a great view of the skyline and Central Park and are free to spend as much time as you like up there. There's a bar and cafe but after looking at the prices we stuck to drinking the bottled water we'd bought with us.
I'm so pleased we didn't give the museum a miss!
Would you ever like to visit the Metropolitan Museum of Art?
