When planning a trip one of the most important parts is choosing the right hotel. As I give myself a set budget for each trip I like to consider the price, location & reviews from people that have previously stayed at the hotel.
1. Get the best price
Websites like booking.com, Expedia & Trivago are brilliant as you can look at all of the hotels in an area and view them by price low-high. I'd recommend looking at more then one though as often different hotels are on different sites.
2. Location, location, location
Often the cheaper hotels aren't in the greatest location, so it's good to try and find a balance. When I'm choosing a hotel I look at the location on Google Maps. How close is the hotel to the city centre? Is it easy to get to from the airport?
3. Look at reviews from previous guests
This is where my greatest tool comes into play - Trip Advisor. You can often read hundreds and hundreds of reviews from people that have stayed at a particular hotel, and even see photos that they've taken themselves of their room. Gone are the days where you need to worry about how realistic the management photos are!
What are your top tips for choosing a hotel?
These are great tips! I use crimereports.com to cross reference if I'm not sure about the area. Honestly most of the time, I go with what's cheap. I'm never very happy with my hotel room, haha.
