Paris: The Arc De Triomphe & The Eiffel Tower

This time last week I was in the midst of spending a long weekend in Paris with one of my closest school friends. We arrived midday on Friday and after having a spot of lunch in the sun we headed off to see the Arc De Triomphe.

Whilst hunting for the underground walkway to get onto the roundabout we ended up walking the entire way round before finding the entrance - but at least I had the opportunity to take plenty of photographs!

After a short wait in line for our tickets (free if you're under 25 and live in the EU - sweet!) we made the long climb up to the top.

And boy was the climb worth it!

The view was incredible, and the weather was so beautiful that there wasn't a cloud in the sky. Surprisingly it wasn't very busy when you're at the top considering you get a great view of the Eiffel Tower and the Champs-Elysees.

I know the most popular thing to do in Paris is go up the Eiffel Tower (which we did do later on the weekend) but I would also really recommend a visit to the Arc De Triomphe. It was much less crowded and the queue is tiny in comparison.

After the climb back down to the bottom we hopped on the metro to see the Eiffel Tower up close. We got the tube to Trocadero, which wasn't the closest stop, to allow us to take some great photographs slightly further away.

We walked through the gardens and across the River Seine to be completely put off by the size of the queue. Before we left home we did try to pre book tickets to go up to the Summit but they were completely sold out!

Later on that evening I really wanted to go somewhere to watch the sun set, and as it was free for us to go into the Arc De Triomphe we decided to go up again.

It turned out to be an amazing spot to watch the Eiffel Tower do it's magic, and at 10pm it began sparkling away.
